River
This is the river that winds through our territory at the edge of the PIne Forest. Watervoles and fish hang out here. There is a set of stepping stones leading across teh river to a nest of brambles.(Do not read the starred stuff. this hasn't actually happened until people post things that say it has.) ###There is a tunnel through the brambles leading to the Bluffs.###

Tinykit leaped upon her brother, pinning him to the ground. "Gotcha!" she meowed. They stopped for a second to look at their surroundings. "Do you think we're lost?" she asked. Her brother looked uncertainately at his surroundings. "Uuh...that way" he said, pointing at a random direction. Tinykit immediately brightened. "Let's go then!"she called.
ReplyDeleteNone of them noticed the searching eyes that followed them out of the river area and into the dark pine forest...
ReplyDeleteA huge black cat padded motionlessly toward the river and smoothly swam across it, his powerful legs cutting gracefully through the water...

ReplyDeleteRockslide!!! Redtail said, bounding to the other side of the river. Behind him, a series of rocks fell, making stepping stones. as if he hadn't just been fleeing in terror, he hopped back across and headed for camp.
ReplyDeleteFluffpaw sat by the edge of the river. She knew she wasn't supposed to be out of camp, but she didn't care. She wanted to hunt for her Clan!
ReplyDeleteShe watched the river, and spotted a fish, She quickly dipped her paw in, and flung it out onto the bank. Fluffpaw bit its neck, and it died instantly. Another hour or so passed, and Fluffpaw only had one more fish. Resignedly, she picked up her catch, and headed back to camp. Two small fish was meager pickings, but it would have to do.
ReplyDeleteFluffpaw bounded ahead of the patrol. "This is the River!" she chirped. "I like to catch fish here!"
ReplyDeleteRockmelt looked into the clear, running river. "You can catch fish?" he asked. He had always thought that catching fish was a difficult task, even for some warriors. Snowfeather splashed water onto his clanmate. "Idiot!" he said. "Anyone can catch fish if they're good enough!"
ReplyDelete"Yes! It's easy!" FLuffpaw watched the river, and quickly spotted the shadow of a fish. She lashed out with her paw, and flipped the fish onto the bank. She killed it with a bite to the neck. Then, she ate it, gulping it down, She swiped her tongue around her jaws, then said "See?"
ReplyDeleteSnowfeather's eyes sparkled. "How do you do that?" he asked, walking to the edge of the river bank. "Whenever I try, all I get is wet paws!"
ReplyDelete"I'll show you." Fluffpaw replied. "You can't strike at the shadow, the water distorts the image, so its not where it looks like it is. You watch, and then strike where the fish is going to be. Plus, there's a trick to being able to fling it out on the ground." Fluffpaw watched the water, and slashed out with her paw. She hit the fish, and it lifted out of the air, but it landed back in the water with a splash.
ReplyDelete(I hope this makes sense. I'm sort of guessing, but it sounds right.)
ReplyDelete(LOL It's okay, we don't have to be completely accurate :P)
ReplyDeleteSnowfeather watched the apprentice carefully, observing her every move. "Cool!" he said, then crept closer to the river to take a shot at catching a fish. He managed to get his claws onto a slick body, but it writhed away, swimming farther downstream.
"See? I told you its hard. Just practice, and you'll get better!"
ReplyDeleteSnowfeather nodded. "I'll try my best!"
ReplyDeleteAshstar smiled. "It's hard." she meowed. "But once you get it, it's fun!"
ReplyDeleteDapplepaw and Stormpaw approached the water. Dapplepaw shot her paw in, but at the wrong time, and caught a shadow. Stormpaw shot her paw in at the right time, but the fish slipped away. "Mousedung!" Stormpaw exclaimed, eyes glittering with embarrassment.
Ashstar nodded. "Try again! It's ok. Not everyone can catch them."
Fluffpaw quickly caught another fish.
ReplyDeleteDapplepaw looked at Fluffpaw. "How do you do that?" she asked.
ReplyDelete"FLUFFPAW! Why are there fish on the fresh-kill pile?" Lightningstar asked. Fluffpaw jumped guiltily.
ReplyDelete"Fish?" she asked innocently. "What fish?"
"Fish! On the fresh-kill pile! That look a lot like the fish you just caught! LightningClan cats do not fish! We hunt woodland prey!"
Dapplepaw and Stormpaw looked at Lightningstar quizzically. "She was showing us how to fish." Stormapw mewed. "It's cool!" "Don't worry" Dapplepaw whispered to Fluffpaw. "You can always come to DragonClan with us."
ReplyDelete"Well, Fluffpaw?" Lightningstar asked.
ReplyDelete"Um, you see... I didn't know you didn't like fish! I'm sorry! But what's so bad about fishing, anyway?"
Dapplepaw and Stormpaw watched in silence, Ashstar looking on, tail twitching in amusement.
ReplyDelete"We. Do. Not. Fish. We are a woodland Clan, not a fishing Clan! If you want to feed the Clan, then hunt woodland prey!"
ReplyDelete"yes, Lightningstar," Fluffpaw replied sullenly.
"If I so much as find ONE fish scale on the fresh-kill pile, I am going to blame you, you understand?"
"Yes, Lightningstar."
"Good." Lightningstar stalked away, her tail twitching.
Ashstar's eyes glinted with amusement as she turned away and went to hunt.
ReplyDelete"Remember what I said." Dapplepaw told Fluffpaw. "I can talk Ashstar into anything." Stormpaw nodded. "I can, too. Anyway, let's go!"
Fluffpaw nodded, and ran on to the Rock Pile.
ReplyDeleteThe she-cats followed her.
